CARAL SACRED CITY

PACAHCAMAC SANCTUARY
The sanctuary of Pachacamac is an archaeological site located 40 km southeast of Lima in Lurin river valley will , Pacacamac grew to become one of the most important religious complex pre-Columbian Andean reaching its peak in the 6th century . Most common buildings and temples were built 800-1400 DC until shortly before the arrival of the conquest of the Inca Empire in 1533.
Recognized for its oracle , Pachacamac became a great place of pilgrimage before the arrival of the Incas between 400 and 600. To date, several pyramids were discovered , archaeologists have identified at least 17 pyramids many of them irreversibly damaged by the El Niño ( weather phenomenon )

The Ichma joined the Inca Empire , which used Pachacamac as an important administrative center . The Inca remains a religious shrine and allowed the Pachacamac priests to continue functioning independently of the Inca priesthood . This included the oracle , whom the Inca presumably consulted. The Inca built five additional buildings , including a temple to the sun in the main square .
