Ancash region is located on the coast and mountains (Andes) is located north of the capital Lima, was established on 28 February 1839 by  Agustín Gamarra president. It is crossed by the two branches of the Western Cordillera of the Andes (Cordillera Blanca and Negra).
The Cordillera Negra, west of Huaylas, is a complex chain of hills, less than the Cordillera Blanca. Presents numerous ravines, spaces surrounded by steep rocky slopes and steep almost vertical, with sections in a "U" and flat bottom, has no glaciers, only a handful of opportunities their highest peaks are covered with snow transient.
The Cordillera Blanca consists of a group of mountains that are the highest in Peru, is considered the highest tropical mountain range in the world, easily accessible and of great beauty, covers approximately 2000 km2. Half of its peaks are covered with ice and snow. Due to the phenomenon of glacial retreat at the foot of the mountains have formed numerous gaps of unmatched beauty and color. The altitudes: Includes Coast regions, maritime Yunga, Quechua, Suni, Puna and Janca.
The department of Ancash is represented by the highest peaks of Peru Huascaran (6768 m), Huandoy (6160) and Alpamayo (5947).
Among the most popular folk events Ancash is Chuscada Ancashina, highlights dance characterized by joy and rhythm bearable.

Huascaran National Park 
In his tour of Peru, the Andes form a dead natural, flanked by the Cordillera Blanca, even hand and Cordillera Negra, The glaciers of the Cordillera Blanca are a set of blue lagoons or green as the color of the rocks at the bottom. Their number is estimated at 260, all above 4000 m, 185 of them occupy the western slope and 75 the eastern slope. The Laguna Paron is the largest and is considered the most  beautiful of all the gaps caused by glaciers, are located north side of Huandoy Snowy. Other famous lakes are Llanganuco of green turquoise color under Huascaran Mountain. The Pusaq Cocha, which in Quechua means eight consecutive Ponds, forming a rosary at the under of the Rosco Grande snowy. Below the snowy Alpamayo Artensauraju and are located two lagoons, Small Santa Cruz and Big.

Llanganuco Lagoon and Callejon de Huaylas
To 25 km northeast of Yungay city (45 minutes drive). Gaps Orconcocha Chinancocha and are within the Huascaran National Park and the melting born Huascarán, Huandoy, Pisco, and Chopicalqui Yanapaccha. Chinancocha Lagoon "female lake" is practically at the foot of Huascaran Mountain and is characterized by the intense green turquoise waters and dense Queñual forests  growing on its banks. The other lake, smaller and called Orconcocha or "male lake", is located at the end of the glacier valley and its waters are light blue.

Chavin de Huantar Temple
To 109 km south of Huaraz (3 ½ hours driving) built around 1200 B.C and discovered by Julio C. Tello. In 1919 and in 1985 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The complex consist o f ceremonial rooms and pyramidal structures were built of huge blocks of stone. The old Temple has a number of tunnels that can reach the room Lanzón, an impressive stone sculpture shaped knife. This sculpture, whose size reaches 4.53 meters high, has been carefully carved motif feline, bird and snake iconography characteristic of Chavin.
Chavin was the main culture / religious Chavin culture. Initially they lived nomadic Andean basin of the  Marañón river and Callejon de Huaylas between 500 and 300 BC and later expanded largely dominated northern and central of Peru.
Until recent times Chavin culture was considered the most ancient pre-Inca although recent excavations reveled the existence of an even more ancient CARAL.

A 21 km southeast of Yungay (1 hour drive) leads to the village of Musho and from there began a 4 hour hike to base camp, from there you walk 2 hours to the glacier Raimondi. It is the highest mountain in Peru. For those wishing to climb Huascaran expedition lasts 6-7 days. The glacier area Raimondi serves as base camp for acclimatization and climbing the peaks north and south.

Tour description

Day 1.- Arrive to Huaraz- Reception at the bus Station and transfer to Hotel.
Laguna de Llanganuco, Reception and transfer to hotel. Then we will start the tour we head for the north side of the Callejon of Huaylas, stops will be made at strategic locations to observe the majesty of this valley, then get to control entry to the Llanganuco Lake, and view this beautiful lake can appreciate and learn something of a habit of the people of this region. Afternoon return to hotel Huaraz.

Día 02.- Chavin de Huantar - Qeroqocha
Pick up from the hotel at scheduled time, this will be a cultural day where you will learn more history and archaeological Catac Recuay and then see Lake Querococha and later arrive at the ancient temple of Chavin and return to hotel.

Día 03.- City Tour
Pick up in hotel at scheduled time, Tours in plaza de armas, Soledad Temple, Archaeological Museum of Huaraz, Chancos Hot Spring.
Afternoon free time.

How to get to HUARAZ.
The only access road to Huaraz city is by car 408 km.
To reach Huaraz by road are three travel routes.
There are buses with daily departures from various categories. We recommend a bed bus
Lima-Huaraz-Pativilca: 408 km  travel time 6-8 hours highway
Casma-Huaraz: 150 km Travel time 6 hours only 20% is highway

Chimbote-Huallanca-Huaraz: 227 km 5.30hours by highway
